A spectacular sight is the Na Muang Waterfalls Samui. Both of the waterfalls have a natural cooling pool below. The views and the experience are second to none. Surrounded by forest and jungle it is an experience to see Koh Samui in a different light away from the bars, clubs, beaches and restaurants. Both waterfalls are popular with the locals and the tourists.
Na Muang Waterfalls 1
The waterfall is a very popular tourist attraction on Koh Samui. Na Muang Waterfall 1 is on the south side of the Island. Off the ring road 4169 up to a cement road. Na Muang Waterfalls Samui is clearly signposted along the ring road. Na Muang Waterfalls Samui is easily accessible by car scooter or with a tour company. Parking is private land and a minimal charge of 20baht is charged. On-site are some shops selling crafts souvenirs and refreshments.
Na Muang Waterfall Samui 1 is 18 meters high. It is at its most spectacular in December and January after the rainy season. Below the fall is a great natural pool for a cooling dip in the heat and humidity after your climb. A large boulder is popular for jumping off into the water. Orientate yourself with the rocks before jumping into the water. Serious accidents have happened from lack of judgement. Diving is not recommended at this waterfall. Locals frequent the waterfall as much as the locals as it is far cooler than the ocean. Before you descend look at the spectacular Spirit Tree.
Na Muang Waterfalls 2
Na Muang Waterfall 2 is a double fall visible from the road. Located a 30-minute walk from Waterfall 1. Access to the waterfall from the car park takes about 20 minutes walking. Well signposted from the ring road 4169 a short distance from Wat Kunaram Temple. Parking is a small fee. Check if entrance fees apply. On-site shops sell crafts souvenirs and refreshments.
At 80 meters high Na Muang Waterfall 2 much taller than waterfall 1. At its most spectacular after the rainy season. The base of the falls is a cool natural pool. The hiking through lush mountains the climb is a little more difficult but worth it for the views. Families can relax and enjoy a picnic in the mountains hike and swim in the natural pool. With slides and a Tarzan swing, the children will have plenty to keep them occupied. Na Muang Waterfalls Samui are a fantastic alternative to the beaches for the family.
Advice
- Guides may approach you to assist you up the waterfalls for a fee. Guide not required.
- Be cautious under foot rocks may be slippy especially over the tree roots.
- Check water depth and rocks under the water before jumping into any of the pools.
- Fitness levels are important the climbs can be slippy and steep.
