Khow Yai Waterfall Samui

Located south-west of Lamai along the ring road 4169 is Khow Yai Waterfall Samui. At the Mummified Monk Temple take the right turn opposite towards the Secret Buddha Garden. There are very few signposts but one at the roadway. The road is steep and has many twists turns but it is accessible by scooter or jeep. Sukvalan viewing platform is at this waterfall. The car park is for viewing and waterfall customers a small fee of 20 Baht is charged to park. This waterfall is accessible without going on an organised tour despite the operators telling you it’s too difficult to get to. Twenty minutes drive from Lamai Beach. Restaurant serving refreshments at the entrance.

Waterfall Khow Yai

Khow Yai Waterfall Samui is set in a beautiful peaceful location. Amongst the lush forest and jungle, you hike to the waterfall over rocky boulders and a very narrow flight of steps. Cooling pools to take a dip from the heat and humidity. At one level you will come upon a pool and a statue of a girl. The significance of the statue is a mystery to find out. Further up the steps passing green vegetation and wildflowers, you will find a stone picnic table.  Perfect spot with amazing views of the Island to have a bite to eat and get your breath back from the climb. Photographers will find some very good opportunities here the views are amazing.

Advice

• Be cautious under foot rocks may be slippy especially over the tree roots rocks and boulders.
• Check water depth and rocks under the water before jumping into any of the pools.
• Fitness levels are important the climbs are slippy and steep.
