Choeng Mon Beach Samui

Far north-eastern tip of the island lies Choeng Mon Beach Samui. For beaches, Koh Samui has enough options to please all manner of beachgoers. A beach for party lovers looking for live DJs and a festive vibe and those looking for solitude with palm trees to swing in hammocks. Choeng Mon Beach Samui is popular with locals, expat families and tourists who’ve discovered the secret. It’s not as busy as nearby Chaweng Beach Samui yet it’s not isolated. There is plenty to see and do in Choeng Mon. It’s easy to grab a bite or a drink when the need arises.

Rocky stretches of coast backed by steep cliffs divide Samui’s northern and eastern beaches. Choeng Mon Beach Samui is located in a deep bay. Cutting into rocky coastline the soft sands are considered some of the island’s finest in Choeng Mon. The shallow waters are ideal for year-round swimming, beach activities and watersports.

Location

It would be easy to drive right past Choeng Mon Beach Koh Samui. A secluded beach. Hidden behind resort facades, shops and restaurants are a swimming beach. The beach is accessed via the resorts or a parking area and thoroughfare halfway along the beach. Alternatively, turn left just before the first Family Mart, coming from Bang Rak. A road leads to the parking lot of  Choeng Mon Beach Hotel. Outside guests must purchase a drink or meal to use their sun-loungers. Their menu is reasonable with a good selection of both Thai and Western dishes.

The Beach

Choeng Mon’s main beach is one of the most popular with expat families on the island. A protected bay, Choeng Mon is good for swimming. Koh Farn a small island little more than a rocky outcrop sits just offshore. The island of Koh Farn is accessible by foot at low tide an interesting exploration with children. At low tide, the water retreats to expose rocks and pools at the eastern end of Choeng Mon beach. If you prefer a deep water swim move a hundred metres west to deeper waters. Vendors sell beach bats, balls and bucket and spade set. Hire a kayak and paddle the bay of Choeng Mon. Massages on the beach start at 250baht for an hour in air-conditioned surroundings.
