Koh Samui Elephant Haven

We opened Koh Samui Elephant Haven in August 2018 and have accomplished a lot since then. To date, we have rescued 14 elephants from the tourist trekking sector in Thailand. The elephants of Samui Elephant Haven have had a difficult life in the past. With that chapter of their lives behind them, these fortunate elephants can now freely express their natural impulses by socialising with one another in stunning natural settings, foraging on local flora, and playing together in custom-built and natural ponds and mud pits. Visitors to the sanctuary have significant contact with these amazing animals in a respectful and reverent environment.

Koh Samui Elephant Haven does not offer bathing with elephants; not only is this behaviour cruel, but it doesn’t allow the elephants to play without restrictions, as they would in nature.

Visiting Koh Samui Elephant Haven

We provide two trips every day at Samui Elephant Haven: one in the morning and one in the afternoon. I make an effort to greet each and every visitor individually. Upon arrival, we provide refreshments and give a brief overview of the safety issues that guests should be aware of, as well as a short instructional video that explains unethical trekking and other practices, as well as why we rescue so many gentle giants. The guides give extensive explanations of elephant behaviour and engage in conversation with the visitors; they are constantly available to answer inquiries.

Guests can help by just visiting Samui Elephant Haven. Visitors help us keep the sanctuary running and save additional elephants. We also offer a gift shop where visitors can buy souvenirs.
